Academic Associates Addresses
The
Reading Problem in Our Schools Head-On

Dr. Louisa Moats:  “What drives me? It is the whole realization of the difference between what is and what could be for kids’ lives and seeing first hand, at every level of society, every age group, how reading difficulty affects people for life. Then on the other end of things, seeing at every level what is not happening that could happen to prepare teachers to address the needs of so many individuals who could benefit from informed instruction and who don’t get it because our whole educational system from start to finish is simply not set up to ensure that people learn to read.”    Dr. Moats directed the NICHD Early Reading Interventions Project in Washington D.C.

The Academic Associates Reading Program, when used properly, enables all children to become good readers. When used properly, at the earliest level, all Third Graders can be reading at grade level or above.

Here’s How We Do It

We train your teachers how to teach reading. We provide your teachers all the skills and tools needed. This training takes place on-site. This enables all teachers and appropriate supervisors to see and hear the same thing. This is very refreshing. You don’t send two or three teachers to a seminar in another state and have them attempt to communicate to your staff how to teach reading. That process never works.

When you contract with us we will provide all the training and materials your teachers will ever need. Each year, for two years, we will provide two in-service workshops dealing directly with the teachers’ concerns and classroom observation of instruction.

Your school or district will pay a one time, up front, fee. There will never be an added cost. There are no annual fees for using our materials. You will never need to purchase new materials from us.

Your one time, up front, cost is determined by your school’s location, the number of teachers to be trained, how broadly you want to use the program and the typical number of students served.

You use the program with each classroom teacher, your special reading teacher, the ESL teacher and the resource teacher. Each student always receives the same reading instruction. That’s powerful!

For a specific cost you will need to fill out the form when you click on more information requested.
